Need some advice. Norther TC 181 -- door would only open 1/4 of the way and only in the mornings. ONce the elevator warmed up or 5-15 minutes later it would work fine the rest of the day. After replacing motor and GAL ECI board in operator, we diagnosed with Northern and they said the relay board (9806 board) was bad. WE replaced but NOrthern said it is plug and play -- it is not necessary to cut jumpers, replace the U Chips (U1, U2 etc. chips). Is this true? We have never replaced a circuit board where the U chips and the jumpers didn't have to match. Car doesn't run right with new board -- we put the old board back in. Can easily move the U chips over, but Northern said it wasn't necessary?

I beleive Northern sets those up at the factory based on your job conditions. That is why they typically ask for a job number for theses boards before they ship them, at least that has been my experiance in the past. But it has been a little while since I have had to order one.

Thanks so much. We got it. We gave them job number and thought they would already pre-set up based on that specific job, but the elevator didn't act right. Acted crazy like on wild operation. We re-synched with Easy Scan and it is fine.

We got further confused when we asked Northern because we were getting different answers. But thanks again.

I just started having a problem with the same type unit. System has EZ Scan built in. (No info on how to use or know what I/O is reference to) Code to access on site.
Problem:
Door operation fails: No door open. ECI/GAL Canada door operator. Tried replace of door control card and replaced DCL/Dol micro switches. When door fails to open EZ Scan shows Both DOL & DCL on. (NOT right)
I have seen car at rest/ no calls placed/ door closed and locked: DCL/DOL on: then DCL drops. ?? Observed this 2X.
ANY thoughts or help.

Sounds like a mechanical problem with your operator, like going over center or over rotating. Check linkages, bearings and stop roller on sheave. Had a similar but opposite problem, no door close with DOL and DCL inputs active. Stop roller was chunked out.

Had the same situation a few years back.I think it ended up being the 9806 board. The problem was with the DO signal. sent it to access electronics they repaired it but it failed again a few weeks later. Had to purchase a new board.
