Keep in mind the wages might be less, but the cost of living is much less, as opposed to Cali, Miami, NYC, Etc.... I have friends who are mechanics in Local 8/18, I'm a mechanic out of Local 71.
Atlanta, Indianapolis, Texas, Phoenix (not to sure of) are much cheaper to live, and more bang for your buck. If work slows down in these areas, you might be required to travel, especially in construction. If you end up mods/repair, etc, you should be good to go. Good luck the rest of the way! It's a great trade/career!
