Did you try putting unit on machine room inspect and doing a double reset.

If that doesn’t work you’ll have to drain the cap on the GCIO

Could be the oil level switch. But did you verify you got the cap below .5vdc?

Bumping this, where is this cap and how do I safely drain it? Got the ALS readout on a unit that had the oil replaced (apparently water contaminated) and the oil float switch was reset so low that it never was able to open. Moved the float switch to open at top floor (2stop) and securely make at bottom (running it on inspection) but unit just returns to bottom floor and displays the ALS.

It appears that two things were happening in my case:
1. I’d always been told that a double reset was punch the reset, wait a couple seconds and punch again. Waiting for the display to come up, a helpful member instructed, was a much longer pause, and definitely reset the AST readout. Thank you!

2.Then we discovered that the new oil was apparently slightly different viscosity and we had to adjust up level to avoid a periodic stall out as it approached the top floor - causing the AST, no doubt.

The float in the tank is now set correctly, too, not sure if that was a big deal or not, but unit is back to running.

By the way, the Capacitor is about the size of a nickel, on the GCIO vertical board, near the reset. We turned off the main line, removed board (two bolts, gently rock and pull, easy to detach from the larger board) and bled off the cap with a coin shorting the pins on the back. Read 0 volts (digital meter) and reinstalled board. Not sure if that was helpful or necessary on my call, but just recording the info here for any future searches.
