We have 2 Miprom HS units that we have acquired from schindler, the cars work great, the only problem is that we are unable to access the LCE cpu interface to check faults, give car calls, etc. you can only see the cars position on the interface, that is all. We have other units on service, where you can interface with the cpu and check faults, change parameters, etc. I am sure schindler has locked us out of these units, does any one have any ideas as to how to restore the units?

I think you need a Kone service tool and log into the lon network through the cop that should unlock the cpu

I have one on my route and i can access the faults untill recently the cpu has locked up as you describe and only shows floor position. I hate to buy a new cpu but i don't think anybody has tampered with it , it just happened. It is probably a common problem with these units just like the door operator boards spontaniously cathing on fire.

Hey vince you are right, not only can a former employee reset a parameter to lock out the cpu, but some electrical glitch can also change the value of this parameter. to fix the problem i logged into the system using hyperterminal, then i was able to access all of the parameters. I compared these with a known good unit and found two parameters UI LOCKING ENABLED, and ENABLE UI ALWAYS. on a good unit, the value of the parameter was 0, on the bad unit it was not 0. after changing the value on both of these parameters to 0, and recycling the power, the cpu now functions normally. on another note, the door operator is a worm gear. Not being very mechanical, i had to replace the worm gear drive unit after one had snapped in half, I had a hell of a time getting that baby back in operation, does anyone have any procedures on how to set up the cable back into the drum sheave. I could not find any info anywhere, and after hours of trying this and that, i finally go the damn thing to go on right, at least it opened and closed when i was finished, although i still do not like the outcome of it. i know there is an easy way, i can not tell you how frustrate i was trying to get that damn cable on. good thing i know something about electricity, got to love those repair guys.

I recently powered down one of the 3 of these that I have on my route and when I powered the unit back up, I could no longer change menus on the user interface. Here is what I did to correct the problem:

1)Set up a new HyperTerminal connection as follows: baud rate= 9600, stop bit = none, parity = 8 data bits, flow control = xon/xoff, connection = com 1

2)You will need to connect your R-232 9 pin dshell cable to the UI. You will also need a 9 pin null modem adapter (radio shack part # 260-1411) and a 9 pin female to female adapter (radio shack part# 260-1409).

3)Put caps lock on

4)Type S and hit enter. It will then display 2 choices. Select Fine Tuning on Field by typing 1 and hitting enter.

5) It will display 3 choices. Select Define Field Settings by typing 1 and hitting enter.

6)It will display 11 choices. Select List Options by typing 5 and hitting enter.

7)It will display a bunch of parameters. Select UI Unlocking parameter by typing 288 and hitting enter.

8)You should now see: Define parameter 288: Enable UI always : Current Value: Dec 0 Hex0H: New ?:__

9)Change the value to 1 by typing 1 and hitting enter.

10)Cycle mainline power and you should be able to access all functions of UI
