IF I was to move to the USA from the UK, how would I enter the (lift) elevator industry through a local? that would be Ft Lauderdale FL

Well first you need to contact the local nearest to Ft. Lauderdale. I'm not from Florida but I think Miami has jurisdiction in the area. They while give you some guidance. It wouldn't hurt to reach out to the international elevator (lift) union. But before that, there is a travel ban, though it doesn't effect the UK, it's a very different situation right now. Good luck hopefully you will find out what you need.
