Vertical Express sent us a door board without generic software on the 6300PA6 Ld03 board. How do I load this generic software via hyperterminal and where do I get this file to upload from? I have an IMS & Door communication cable interface. Any help would be appreciated.

i have replaced a few of these, and i always downloaded the generic software that i got from a buddy. However one of my employees recently had to replace the board while i was not available, he had the UIT to adjust parameters etc, but was not sure about the big note on the board that says warning factory test software installed , download generic software. I said we have nothing to lose, give it a try with the factory test software . it worked fine, he was able to change the appropriate parameters with the UIT and it is still working. actually he has done this twice so far. just fyi might want to give it a try. if you really need to download the generic software, you will need a little adapter plug and the software, fairly easy to do. i have the part number for the adapter plug if you need it. pm me for more info

You need the generic software from TKE and the special adapter to talk directly to the door operator. There is usually always generic software installed on those boards. On a new board you have to load the door profile from IMS.

you can use the UIT to manually input the door profile parameters.
i have the various door profiles on disk, and use the adapter tool to load them onto the board. it is a time saver. i have tried loading the profile from ims on one job, and it just would not take. talked to a thyssen trouble shooter, and he advised me that it can be a pain to load from ims, he said he always just downloads the appropriate profile from disk directly to board. thats the way i have been doing it since he told me, and it has worked fine so far. just have to make sure you are downloading the appropriate profile file.
maybe ill try it from ims next time to see what happens

The profile doesn't always go through cleanly through IMS, supposed to use Hyperterminal. If you don't have the generic, it's worth throwing it in and see if there really is no software in it. If you have a UIT you can plug it in any UDC, very handy, and check what version is in it. If this is a TAC32 or you have some, it would be worth the effort to get the version 23 generic, it has a fix for intermittent shutdowns with "i serial comm" faults, they'll drive you crazy. The car is shut down, you have watchdog faults, limits don't show up in door diagnostics, open door smartfast and the table doesn't fill out and there is a 2064 or 3064 in door diagnostics. After a reset everything works fine for hours, days, weeks.

Looks like my service tool is not communicating through IMS. I have another service tool on order through a nameless source. Is the UIT readily available? And does it work on all jobs or only on the job it's programmed for? Does anyone have door profile files they would like to share? My hyperterminal is working and I have the adapter, I just need the file.

UIT only works on job its programmed for. Can not move from controller to controller.

you can get UIT from vertical express. i got mine there, blaze it is the UIT for the door operators, and works on all door operators, not on the controllers. although it looks the same. so the UIT for the door operators looks the same as the controller UIT, but it only works on door operators. mine has worked on all the door operators that have a connection for it.

Your right, wasn't thinking about the UIT for the UDC.

You could even use the one off a 10K drive if you're working on a 50-04. The UIT is great and it has worked on every UDC I've tried, I was so surprised when I figured it out since I work for the company in question and no one seems to know this. Even with IMS the UIT can save a lot of time and energy depending on how far away the machine room is.

If your Hyperterminal session keeps saying bad data packet it usually works anyway but PM if you want the settings to make it work correctly, or the software.

Another good trick with the UDC is to get the 5 pin plug for Con11 and wire a cord to it, you can plug it right into the wall and put your Generic and profile in the door board from the machine room, or the shop for that matter, and never have to set your computer up on the car top. If you have the UIT, you don't necessarily even have to have a computer with IMS on the job.

The closeout on this call is a bad DC motor on the Linear operator. I read the motor on the initial call and it was 10 ohms which I had nothing to compare it to so I assumed it was good. What else that led me to the door board was the fact that I wasnt getting DC voltage output to the motor from the board. Also MDO & MDC were not working and/or were not firing DC voltage to the motor. I could not really find all this out until I plugged a UIT in and had an IGBT fault. I'm assuming the board monitors the DC motor's resistance to allow the IGBT to fire. Either way it is running. I appreciate all the help & guidance. Thanks.
