We had fuse 20 blow on our Otis Low-rise LVM elevator electrical drawing #ABA21241VM. We found the short in the rear hoistway door latch switch and replaced the fuse. Now the display reads "LOS" and car will not operate at all. The door will open and close with the buttons inside the car but the call buttons do not respond at all. The door open button on the circuit boad will open the door and the breaking the safety light curtain will open the door if it is closing.

We tried the reset button on the circuit board but no change. We cycled the power and the car lowered to the bottom floor and door opened and closed so that worked correct. Any ideas?

Rick

I'm just pulling this one out of the air!

LOS = "low oil switch".

I'm glad to hear that.
Could you give me a little more? I feel like I'm talking to my wife about the tv remote!

Do you have the job electrical prints?

Sorry just looked back and I see you do have prints! Do you have a service tool?

Have you verified the switch functions, the wiring is good and or all is registering?

It is a low oil pressure switch.Jump it out,LOS that is,and run the car.
Then see it everything is back to normal when you take the jumper off.If not,replace the switch which is located in the tank either on the valve or on the piping.

Running the car up on inspection out of the hole..usually does the trick....provided it is not a hard fault...It sounds like an old version of 211..with the diagnostic chip..cannot plug in to access..without upgrade software..might be time to break out the prints..

Little off subject..... Ive had a couple DMCs that had a wire break on the TSL1 switch on the switch tree on the side of the car. Went to building management and explained the Low Oil timer shut the car down and they immediately think so this is a lack of maintenance and where is the oil going. So ive changed my terminology to Motor Limit Timer. Since then Ive not had the other unwanted response. I was just wondering if anyone has ran into things like this. Being a younger mechanic working on my customer communication skills has been the hardest part of the job for me. Sorry for being off subject.

Funny that should mention this...Millar spent millions sending their Mechanics to such a training course especially for this purpose in mind...

los is a hard fault, reset it with the onboard diagnostic tool.

Our customers know they are getting zero maintenance, that's the new way of the elevator business. If I run into a door lock not making from say speed bumps, I just write it up as a hung lock or a high resistance door lock contact. Some folks consider "dirty" in dirty contact to mean we should of cleaned it.

Two buttons to the left of the display.
hit the button on the left till you see clr0.hit the right button to clear the fault.clr0,1 2 it scrolls through.then hit reset.
