there were a number of evolutions of the star wheel selector, the later ones had the car call in the star wheel box. you could not put a car call in at the controller. very aggravating when trying to trouble shoot a problem. tread carefully when bidding on an up grade. it would be cheaper to replace the controller and selector with something new and reliable.

On another note, anyone ever had the pleasure of working on a selective-collective starwheel?

This job is a selctive collective job. We ended up getting it running properly which ended up being just a bad contact on a call reset relay. This is a new job for us and the former service provider told the customer thier star wheel was bad and needed to be replaced. So I expected that somthing catastrophic must have happened but after finding everthing intact it was just some simple trouble shooting the first day we stepped on the job which got it running properly again.

Nice so its the giant starwheel! We get our finger contacts from delco electronics, even though they're classified as obsolete. Is always a gamble to try and coax a customer into modernizing, competitors often say its fixable to gain the maintenance contract. Ive had one seize up, figured it was the end, but some penetrating lube and a vacuum got er good as new.
