This looks a little like the system that Otis did early 2000, but really didn't work all that well, and mostly got disconnected. Cant quite remember what they called though.
Makes sense to me to have something like this. In an emergency, anything is better than nothing.
For some strange reason, phone services are tax as much as alcohol or tobacco. Since when do phone lines cause cancer?
Phone lines for this elevator phone, alarms,etc should be except from all these crazy fees.
