Had power problems in building. Fast program gets no response from device. So I figure bad board. I disconnected the 2 door boards and the selector and still no response from device. My selector board is acting weird. When I first opened it up no lights. After reset it blinks super fast then goes off. So I’m pretty sure my selector board is causing the problem. But I would have liked to see my fast program communicating after disconnecting selector board
WgAt do you guys think ?

Probably bad clc, and selector needs a hoist way scan but CLC is not communicating.

CLC is your main board in the COP. You can buy them new or get them repaired from World Electronics.

The board with the battery ? If I disconnect this board will my fast program connect ? Do I lose my programming when replacing this board ?

If you take the battery out or the battery dies and power is removed you will lose settings. Its not hard to setup. You need to set your floors right front and rear...fire service...learn trip and slowdown settings are just a few.

If you have another car in the same bank with same openings you can upload the parameters to your tool save then plug into clc of other car. And the. Upload and except for master slave adj you are back up.

I have a similar problem "No response from device". I'm using a converter from Usb to RS485. The COM1 is set as ACPI and the COM2 is the usb serial port.

I don't have communication between the pc and the DMCI.

Look at previous posts on dmc on this blog, your answer is posted on blog.

First , always check power supply 5vdc, then check ripple voltage on power supply.

I couldn't find info about that. Hope someone can help me with that configuration. I have to say that I'm using a virtual machine with windows xp installed.

I've checked the voltage and everything is good.

Have you used this setup before on a DMC? What is the converter you’re using? DMCs can be really finicky getting tools to communicate even if everything is correct. Make sure you try the door and selector, sometimes those will talk but the CLC won’t. Are you sure the adapter you’re using is connecting to the correct pins on the DB-25? Also be careful hooking up to it, there’s 24vdc present to power the FAST tool or the Orange cord adapter. It could damage the adapter if it has a connection to that pin.

I've been working with the Cablemax FTDI USB a RS-232/RS-422/RS-485 converter. I'll try again but with an old computer with serial port. I only want to make an hoistway scan and check some faults, will work If use a normal serial cable (db9) and then a conector to db25? I don't have the orange cable, but I think that cable only is neccesary for the door adjustment.

You can buy the orange cable.

Is neccesary? I won't do any door adjustment

Re: Dmc1 - 08/06/19 04:42 PM

Dont use a standard DB9 cable and 25 pin adapter. You will blow fuses. Get the orange cables as stated if you dont have the adapters that work for standard cable
And yes I found that out the hard way lol

Re: Dmc1 - 08/06/19 07:36 PM

This is an interesting problem though. I’d like to try to get DMC1 Fast to work on a VM with a USB adapter too. Has anyone got this to work? I’m trying to get a USB to 485 adapter to work on an old laptop that works with Com 1 first but haven’t had success with that yet let alone going to the VM.

You will also find that if you try to set up a CLC for testing, only the actual FAST tool likes to work. You will have better luck with a door board. I don’t know why that is, haven’t tried hooking the 2 together to see if then the laptop will talk to the CLC.

Oh, and if you get the 25 pin harness from TKE to hook up for testing this out, remember the Red wire is G24, the Black wire is P24. You will smoke the 485 chip on your FAST tool if you hook it up the way that makes sense. Ask me how I know that. And if you look in a DMC controller you will see that that’s the way that harness is wired there too. And the Orange cord does use that 24v so it has to be present for the adapter to work.

Re: Dmc1 - 08/06/19 10:18 PM

I have been trying the usb to 485 as well. Only works with serial db9 and "orange cable". I picked up a usb to 485 adapter plus orange cable, but not sure if the driver can do the same thing as ACPI like the serial one does that works.

Re: Dmc1 - 08/06/19 11:48 PM

Are you saying you could get it to work with a USB to 232 adapter and the Orange Cord? I didn’t think that would work. I just tried a Tripp-lite USB to RS-422/485 adapter but pretty much gave up on it. The driver doesn’t really have any settings to mess with. I tried installing the same 485 ACPI driver that Orange cord uses but that didn’t work either. I’m thinking the adapter will have to have to have a more full featured driver, maybe B&B Electronics. The chip in the Orange cord and the little Grey adapter is an SP491 full duplex 485 transceiver. PSC is wired to A and NSC to B, that’s it. Doesn’t seem like it would be so difficult. Does the World tool have a USB adapter or do you have to have a serial port?

I have gone through the same as you. Just easier to use serial db9 computers for dmc1 pc at this time.

Y'all are trying to build way overcomplicated things. Dmc has been around for 30+ years. Just user what was designed in the 1980s
