Does anyone know of good non-proprietary MRL systems. I am looking into a few. I keep missing out on some construction bids for lack of a good MRL. Any info would be helpful.

Not sure about non proprietary as there are different types of control(serial data(which will need a test tool) v normal wired control as you can get both or used to) but we use mac pruarsa from spain that's not a bad product. Its simple to install with a hydro and mrl application and do provide factory back up for assistance when required and you can even have a engineer come over for problem lifts with common faults.

Not sure any of the MRL's are good. Minnesota elevator has a package. We are going to try it out this year. Hollister Whitney has the machine and you would have to source the rest of the package yourself.

Best MRL on the Market is the GEN2. I've never worked for Otis but still its the smoothest ride I've ever been on. We took a few on contract and good running units. Yeah its proprietary but a good unit. Our Synergy unit its ok but I hate MRLs. Swift needs to go ahead and put a future controller on a MRL.

I have installed and maintained Kone and Gen2. They both have their pluses and minuses. Minnesota and canton and Leistritz and global have packages. but they are all the same. With the exception of Global safeties, they are the worst in the market. yes I know you can second market HW safeties on the Global's. Delaware is working on a K unit (Korean), Allen Bradley controller is all I can say. It is the same as all the rest machine wise. (HM-tech). Harry Moon GFY<LOL. "oops" GFY= go F yourself Thanks for helping to kill Cemco and LG OTIS Harry. The smooth ride on the Otis I think can be attributed to the rubber belts. Anyone? Just my humble opinion.

@ oleeightball. I am looking for, or I am gonna help make an Ecospace killer. That said, obviously they have the corner on the market right now. Otis is sucking their leftovers. I can guarantee that you will see an Eco replacement soon. On the World wide elevator scene there are many across the globe that are like the Eco's but only better. They are learning how to beat their damn patents in the USA as we type.

Mp lifts mrls(and others) are the direct comparison with the kone monospace lift and can say, in my opinion, the monospace is a light weight piece of junk and poorly thought out and designed by having most of the controller inside the shaft and in some cases not easily accessable(especially when an apartment block with a penthouse on the top floor). I'm sure their are other manufacturers and probably cheaper options but we have used this manufacturer for a while and my boss's increasing market share is directly related to this manufacturer. We have generally a good breakdown history(as always depends on the installers) and imo has a good build quality. As always you will always have problem lifts which breakdown all the time but essentially with these types maybe 3 or 4 times a year. Here is a link to their website. Hope this helps.


Ps we installed a home lift product years ago and it wasnt that flash so i would stick to commercial lifts unless thay've re designed them.

I'll second the opinion stated above about the Gen2. It's a well thought out unit, easy to work on (inspection station in pit, well-lit overhead, etc.), and the ride is insanely smooth. I recently had the opportunity to see a unit installed over 10 years ago and was impressed with how quiet it still was and that the customer was still quite happy with his purchase-so much so that he added two more to another building on his campus.

Global Tardif which is a manufacturing company in Canada though they do International Sales. They have a few options to choose from that will vary in speed and cost. Very good product however, I have never used their controllers. I'm extremely particular about the controls I use so I have them quote without any controls.

MEI, or Minnesota Elevator who also as a very nice system. A bit more expensive even when factoring in shipping from Global. However, another great MRL option and I've installed many of both.
