Can anyone help with IMS Software error? I have the IMS and DMC FAST Tool software and the IMS works fine but now when I try to switch over the DMC using the serial switch program I cannot get the DMC program to work, it either comes up with SRVDRV unable to work or comm 45 error or the DMC program comes up but I cant ever connect, Is this a driver error or what..It suddenly started happening on 4 of our service tools pretty much all at the same time in a month,
Thanks

if it comes up with unable to open com port error 45, then the com port is not configured for ACPI . you can check to see what the port is set to by navigating to device manager and expand the port section and look at com port 1 to see if it says com port 1(ACPI). the port switcher program can be a pain, better to do it manually. after you successfully switch the port to 485, you must reboot the computer. then run the dmc program. sometimes when you connect, it will display not responding in the window, just change the display from status to variable, then you should see the variables, now you can switch back to clc and status and it usually will work. also while you are using the port switcher program, if it does not complete within a couple of minutes, and all the windows do not close, then it has failed, you will see unable to open device manager, close all windows and try again. remember to reboot after it finishes completely. again it is sometimes better to do it manually

What we have found out just recently on ours is not to switch to 485. Just click on the DMC program.

Ok thanks. I'll give all if that a try. I'm fairly familiar with it and have used it for a few years now. It seems that all of a sudden every laptop I have it on is doing the Same exact thing. Switch port seems to be acting up. I've been doing it manually. I get error com 45, 5 and also the not responding. Srvdrv pops up and at most times won't even open up the program. IMS runs just as smooth as possible. Driver problem ? Microsoft security up date ? Thanks for the input everyone

sorry spittman, i thought you were new to the program, i was giving you rookie advice. that is strange that they all do the same thing. i do remember being told not to allow any updates to the system, we shut off automatic updates. did the computers have internet access, and did they install updates recently? have you looked at the device manager for com ports, and verified that the com port 1 reads comport 1(ACPI) ? kind of a bummer, do you have access to the original installation programs? you could try removing the DMC program and reinstalling it.

Resolved. Rs485 db9 adaptor was not allowing the RX signal back through from the controller. I ordered a Schneider Electric USB to RS485 cable/convertor. IMS already has the Fidiport drivers and should work as planned. And also provide a much better connection
Testing it tomorrow morning. Ill post results. Cable 73 bucks
