Currently we are bothered by the high temperature on the induction motor winding of our 25 yr old Mitsubishi service elevator with a capacity of 650kg. We decided to rewound the motor but still overheating on the windings is still there. The other problem is the motor name plate is unreadable.

Any suggestion is welcome to resolve this problem.

Hang the car and counterweight. Take a dynamometer and weight the counterweight then the car. Take the ropes off and take amp readings in both directions. Then put the ropes back on and remove your block & tackle. Place a load on the car to create a balanced load. Take amp readings in both direction. By now you should be on track to understand why your motor is overheating. Also lift your brake electrically and check and see you have clearance.

Weight of the empty car?
Running amps with an empty car up and down?
Running amps with the ropes off in both directions?
Running amps with a balanced load in both directions?
What type of guides?
Motor data volts, amps, cycle and hp?
