Anybody have a man adjusters manual on a 842-1854E6F model Baldor drive on a motion--- it's a SweoDrive--- coming up empty even with motion--- thanks in advance

I second that. They are local for me, very quick turn around. I have sent them Sweo drive boards a few times and they never needed re-adjustment after repair. They have also always had any part that I have ever needed for obsolete Baldor drives fans etc.

I also have a problem with the MCE. Floor height checksum error. Manual says it's probably the Imc-ddp-c board in the led swing panel. .. As anybody just pulled the chips. Put them back in and error went away ?

Probably would be best to start a new post since this is a new subject. But it might be your U15 chip (if I remember correctly). They do go bad, about every 10 years. Replace with a new one. Don't forget to record your parameters.

With respect to the drive issue. If the car has been running well, check tach for excess AC ripple. Check armature for grounds and proper brush tension. I have seen the current sensor zero pot drift. That drive has very few regular adjustments. You have a gain pot and some jobs wire in the IR comp ckt. Normally you need to modify the RC time constants in the speed loop and current loop to adjust it if the gain pot doesn't work. But that would not be the case on an existing unit.Make sure you are not seeing the current limit led flicker on at top speed. Again indication of loop grounding on an existing job, or even brake dragging. The null forcing pot can cause problems if drastically misadjusted. IR comp can help dampen small vibrations. Again look for more obvious things, ie tach ripple, tach brushes being short or excess carbon.

I've never looked for AC ripple on a tach. Would this be from poor commutation or induced voltage from something else?

They get wear on the bearings causing wobble. This fluctuates your DC output. Sometimes it is just a bad fitting coupling or broken coupling. Put your meter across the tach leads and check for AC voltage. Any fluctuation here will be seen and felt by the drive. It will nevery be exactly zero but anything greater than about 300mv is potentially causing vibration. If you have one of the better tachs ie Radio Energie it helps. Sometimes guys put a load resister across the tach to help clean it up. Some have four brushes. Remember the tach is nothing more than a little generator.

A couple of things that can also cause vibration are Motor Field V/A being incorrect, and look at your Contract Speed. Make sure your not trying to go over contract speed. Not to mention that it could be Mechanical, something like Rope Tension or Roller Guides. Vibration is always a tough one to figure out. I agree the Tach is the first place to look.

When talking about the ac ripple of a tacho, are we talking about a ripple where the commutation isnt a perfect dc line?

Couldn't agree more about starting with motor itself then moving to tach for the vibration. The U15 chip, like Blaze said, is probably the problem but there are two tricks to try before replacing it and putting all the parameters back in. 1-If you have a monitor, go to the floor height screen, change one of the floor heights, save it, then change it back to the original height. sometimes this will clear the fault but the chip is starting to fail its read/write ability. If it doesn't save, try #2. 2-remove the Eprom chips on DDP board and reinsert them in making sure you are properly grounded, i've seen the entire board go out when someone had their hands all over the board. If fault is still there, change chip. Hope this helps, All the best!
