Hey guys,

I've gone through the testing and interview process and have received my ranking. I was wondering if apprentices are able to test out of certain basic classes, especially electrical (basic DC/AC Theory, conduit bending, etc.) Also, how much emt bending is required for install work? Just wondering how much of my electrical background will transfer and pay off in this trade. I'm very excited about this opportunity and I'm focused on sharpening my axe as much as I can before I get the call.

Also if anyone has any insight on the online classes and material that is covered in the first year I would greatly appreciate the advice.

I tested out of year 2 (basic electricity). I have multiple certifications and a degree through the Navy though. When I tested out they also gave me all the OJT hours for year 2. I went from year 1 to year 3. They offered for me to test out of year 4 also, but I wouldn't be allowed to sit for the mechanic's test until I have 3 actual years in the trade, so I took the year 4 course. Don't count on testing out though. It's a rare occurrence.
