Having a noise issue with a Smartrise Hydro. Customer is complaining about noise and it is louder than other installs. So far have replaced the mufflers and the piping with no improvement. Smartrise suggested switching motor leads and turning off dipswitch 14 on S&S starter. Made noise worse. Job has Elmo motor, 40HP, 208VAC. Maxton UC2A valve. See attached picture for noise level. Looking for suggestions on how to reduce noise level.
Is it a submersible or dry pump? Insulated (rubber bushing) pipe clamps? Tank unit on rubber? What kind of mufflers? In my opinion the only ones that really work much are the big chamber style ones. But mufflers are more for smoothing out pulses from the pump than muffling noise, though they help some with noise. If its submersible is the motor and pump assembly securely mounted, does it have some rubber bushings at the bracket mounting points? Dry pump, is your belt tensions good? Too loose it'll squeal, too tight could cause excessive bearing load, possibly noise?
If there's no glaring problem it could simply be what it is. All equipment is designed differently. Just like most submersibles are decent on noise and dry pumps tend to be louder, you got schindler over here making the whisper hydro 3000s. Really them 330As are so quiet it's ridiculous.
Do you have another exactly the same car or cars with same pump unit to compare noise to to be sure its actually abnormal? Does your customer have realistic expectations?
If all else fails I'd look at replacing the pump. It's generally the biggest source of noise and pulses and vibrations
Also, is the motor wired correctly? I seen one job that was noisy and drawing too much current when running full load, but did run, the motor leads were bugged together incorrectly. It quieted up once corrected.
Vics or threaded pipe? If its threaded is the pipe not perfectly aligned at the union before putting it together? (Tension pushing on pipe)
EElevator has good advice. Check motor wiring and motor to pump connection we had a lose one hake lots of noise. If its a air up muffler that can be your problem too. Very problematic and we quit using them. Here is what we found alot has to do with the fact during the mod customer gets use to the quiet. Then they think the new elevator is noisier. We started getting noise level measurements before mods start. Make sure when you refill tank after checking pump to motor connection you put as much oil in the tank as you can.
