best i can remember built in 68

that is a double wrap gearless machine with a friction gear. im thinking a 339HT machine model. very expensive to repair. anyone who installed/adjusted one is probably dead. how many runs does this car get in a hour or day? do you need a huge heavy duty freight car or will a regular newer type service car work? how tall is the building? i agree with everyone else this should be modernized. better than a mod is a tear out and a brand new elevator be installed in its place. the function of the building has probably changed and so should the elevator. welcome to building ownership.

the work horse is semi retired ,building is now condos ,runs couple time per hour and is not in need of repair big machine for a small job but it gives a sense of security to an old elevator man,--see Fitch

Is that a "1/2 SOB" controller? I saw a 1/2 SOB once only in Los Angeles, when I was just starting out, about 28 years ago. I can't remember the difference now, between a "1 SOB", and a "1/2 SOB".

In case there isn't such a thing as a 1/2 SOB, I'm gonna blame Howard Twardoks!

Yeah...There's been a couple of Generals out of Atlanta..Latest was bought out by Dover, which of course was bought out by TK. Then there was the one before that. If memory serves me right, to make things even more confusing, the original General of Atlanta, (Run by a guy named George??..Drove a Rolls Royce). He sold to General elevator out of Baltimore, which had about 20 offices nationwide, until they were bought out by Dover. The only think TK saved out of the old General was the foriegn equipment department, which was NTS, but is not known as ITS..

I checked that job today date on print says started in 68,the quality check tag on the controller says 12-3-79, the building was built in 1913, evidence on floor around controllers they have been changed , Data plate on motor says Size 17-33 Volts 230 Amps 135 Spec 17-33-A-199 F-101 maybe someone knows how old this motor is
