Good afternoon brothers and sisters. Has anyone had the pleasure replacing the submersible motor and pump on a Destiny DH 35 made by National Wheel-O-Vator residential elevator. Previous service company replaced the submersed motor start run contacts with 2 start/run relays in the controller. Well now there is a growl when motor starts and the growl goes away in run. Would like to know what options may exist to replace motor and pump. Talked to previous service tech and he says replace due to age, installed 2001.

Pull the motor and take it to an electric shop. Either the capacitor (in the grey box) is bad or the centrifical switch is bad or there is a problem in the motor windings. In the worst case, the motor would have to be rewound and that is a $500 hit. I'm not sure why the other service company replaced the motor contactor with two, but if he wired them correctly, there isn't a problem.

Previous tech replaced the nuisance centrifugal motor switch with the start and run relays at the controller. These relays in the controller were to have start run contacts easy to troubleshoot and replace avoiding having to drain the tank to get at centrifugal switch which replacement can't be found. The 2 relays in the controller idea has worked fine for years. I was hoping to avoid draining the tank, but that seems to be the only option. I would like to find a suitable motor replacement without the submersed motor contacts and capacitor.
