I have a Tac 32 that's ups unit has to be manually turned on ever time to fire up the controller after a power loss.
I tried replacing batteries in ups unit with no change.
Was wondering if anyone has experienced this problem before.

So it turns on but then shuts itself off later? So when power goes out you have to re turn on?
Id check and replace batteries first if not then replace the ups.
Voltage testing the batteries is a bad test. You must load test the batteries. A car battery load tester is cheap and extremely effective for this. The carbon pile kind with the switch you press and hold after clipping on the battery with the analog voltmeter on the front

We replaced the batteries with no change. The next thing we are going to try is to replace the stby2 relay and hope that fixes it.
The ups seems to work fine. Just when the power is returned to the controller due to a power outage or cycling of power the ups unit does not want to fire up. You have to manually turn the unit on.

That’s normal… There is no circuit to make the UPS turn on when you turn on the disconnect. When you turn off a TK hydro with a UPS you have to manually turn the UPS off or it’ll beep saying no power. Then when you turn on the disconnect you have to turn on the UPS to put power to the controller.

Makes sense. The otis units and older dmcs you have to go to the machine room and turn a keyswitch after the powers out to activate battery lowering

Consider yourself lucky, you have to run it on the recovery pump at 1 to 2 fpm till you can access the cartop and get behind the controller to the ups.

No literal MRLs. We do have machines in the hoistway but still has to be at least a closet for the controller and drive. No drives in the hoistway, controllers in the jam, and no MRL hydros.
