If you were given the task to build your own MRL using completely generic parts, how would you do it? What equipment/parts would you use? This is how I would do it.
NEVER USE designs with difficult layouts NOR machines to big to be used for MRL designs like imperial 520 series. Pancake machines (Torin) in a flatbed config., such as old TK/Delaware Elevator MRL. Canton MB layout. Old-style HW GL series (GL-MRL series). Brake often difficult to reach.
DO USE EcoDisc based designs such as the Imperial 540 series and the Vantage GLR machines. These machines are designed specifically for MRL applications using more compact designs with easy access to components like brakes, encoders, etc. These machines are typically located beside the cab and have a compact design completely rail supported. Please see ex. below.

If you want to get more savvy, you could manually build KONE knockoff layout using a standard pancake machine (Torin). See ex. below.
In situations where a barrel type machine is req. due to the guide rail config, I would only consider installs where the length barrel is mounted parallel to the CW whether beam or rail supported. This makes brakes easy to access.
