Wondering if anyone has run into the same problem...

I've got a couple of 3200 units that seem to stall after the M contactor picks.

High voltage board outputs MA and MB, but no P. Relay board U1 or D1, UD, SM all picked. DEN out...

Only drive signal showing on the relay board is the Drive Ready LED...

Car is always level with the floor, brake not picked, drive not energized, showing RDC low on RMS board... only odd thing is a flickering OK signal on map unit (output group 18?)...

Any thoughts? Happens every 2 - 3 weeks. Tipping a hall lock or cycling inspection will cause M to drop and car will take off...

Do you have a HPV 900 manual? I had these in some swift geared cars I think I still have the manual in my office somewhere.

flickering i/o you say. pull out the hvs 9603 board and measure all of the 4.7 micro farad capacitors. i think there is about 16 of them. replace all the bad ones.

HVS board has already been replaced, brand new from Northern... and I do have an HPV manual.

One of the main issues Ive had with these is in the redundancy circuit (RE) If the contacts are not in really good shape you will get problems. If my memory serves me right its a 24vdc circuit. Also the drive contactor's aux. contacts are a known issue.

Geared units, no speed command being issued to the drive...

Problem using IMS USB

i am facing some problems concerning to the communication laptop-TAC 50-04controller using the IMS USB.

My lap top have no D-Shell 9 pins and i tried a USB to serial converter and i made the follwing configuration in the "system config" menu:

on COMMUNICATION tab: LAN Router- None, Connect- Direct
on LON tab: "Connect-SLTA", "Mode-LTA Config".

I tried other settings , but without success.

check the N O auxillary contacts on M contactor.

as for your tac 50-04, use usb or ether net, and you need the black IMS icon on your lap top

All contacts on the M contactor are fine... if I remember correctly, even if the NO contacts intermittently don't make, the controller would drop M... in this situation M is held electrically...

Thank you Eric. Now i understand the reason of the problem that i asked for help.

Is because the IMS via usb is for 32 bit TAC50. The ones i have are 16 bit.
