A mechanic friend asked for some help. He has a Tac 50, he says it is an 04. he replaced a broken hall button and now the new button is only being seen by one car. He performed a lon download, but the other 2 cars say he has a bad connection, and they stop at that floor in each direction every time they have an up or down demand.Any thoughts would be appreciated, I guess the hall direction tone is bothering the whole office near the hall station.

If my failing memory hasnt left me completely dumb, I swear the 50-04 is actually dont with CAN communications, and that LON was the very short lived 50-03. Also when you say he replaced the button, do you mean the physical button? Or the expansion card behind the fixture? Or if it is CAN communication the HN card in the hoistway. Give me a few more details, and i will try and keep you outta the weeds.

Yeah you are correct most 32 bit 04s use CAN. The lon was a 03 and some of the early 16bit 04.

DHNF (display hall nodes front) should show his boards. Those boards are junk. If the rubber sleeve fell off it could touching the box and caused a issue with the board. Change the HN board, tape the rubber sleeve up so it stays on. Double check all the connections.

If it is a lon....good luck;)

Hey guys, I just assumed it was a lon, That was in when I retired. He did change the button and then the board, He says the more he did the worse the situation became. I will tell him about the sleeve. Also there is a comm. board in the duct in the hoistway. His company just obtained these units from TK, the building people say that TK had many problems with them also.

I just talked to the Mechanic, he says it is an 04, and he performed a node learn. He is going to replace the HN board, and expansion board. He thinks that since this is a 3 car group, that he has 2 master cars and 1 slave car, the HN board he is changing is on the slave car. He also indicated that the Building people say the Elevators go on Emergency Service and Fire Service for no apparent reason periodically. Yikes!!! I wish I was still working so I stress over these animals.

Can just needs to be re-taught. Each node is like the old LN hoistway card. It is a nicer system overall, because the usual problems of losing the whole riser are gone. Verify which cars are master, should be a master share with 0 and a master share with slave. The learn can be done through the provided UIT and I found its easier without the slave car being hooked in. Problem will be gone.

John Jay I have to apologize I gave you bad info. I got swift and the tac50-04 confused. The TKE stuff does not have the rubber sleeve that is swift. Most of the time its mounted with double sided tape to the side of the box. That comes off and then the board will ground to the box. So covering the board is a good idea. Sorry man I don't like giving bad info.

John Jay, if you use the IMS you can check if there is any HN bad by the command TECF.

Regardless of the whether or not a fault with the HN ,you can make learning them - TECCR to clear them, than TECC to teach.

If the TECF command shows any HN faulty and it remain after doing their learning , try to replace their HN without forgetting TECCR and TECC after.

When a HN is faulty / not in network , the TAC50-04 sends the cars to the respective floor , precisely so that it will not be deprived of access to the car.

Concerning to Master or Slave Car, does not matter at all cause you can switch that condition between the cars any time you want it.
