I just bought one of these tools from China. It has an extra dongle that came with it. Does anyone have experience with this? Just looking for some feedback, because I am almost afraid to plug it in.
Does it work on the hydrofit?

Forget that dongle.. it is trash. Will blow a fuse on your Elevator. Be careful.

this is the model after the one with the dongle, It works on 211, 311, 411 , gen2, and region controllers with gcs. so far we have had one unit fail, the display just went dim and that was that, the other units are working fine, however i know of another company that has bought quite a few of these units, and they have had a couple of them fail as well. but for the price you can't go wrong.

if rolly says the dongle is trash, do not use it, you should be able to use the tool without the dongle, and be fine on the 211, 311,411 i think the dongle was supposed to be for the GCS units, a friend of mine tried the dongle on a gcs, and it did not work, luckily it did no damage as rolly says, but maybe he just got lucky.

I have had one report from a board repair facility that indicated that plugging in the newer unit took out a number of RS boards in the system, not sure about this, but since he told me that, i have been leary of plugging the unit in, thats why i take it to a 211 first to give it a try. I did notice that when you first plug the unit into a 211, it takes about 45 seconds for it to start working, the menu items come up, but you can't select them. just wait the minute or so, then it is ok, after that when you plug it in, it works right away, really strange.

i have had to replace i/o and RS boards on 2 units after 2 independent companies used these Chinese service tools on Otis cars. One 211 flash, one GCS Gen2.

A buddy of mine works for the big O and he bought one. He said it works fine. The dongle works on the later GCS. He said the software on the first GCS's would blow a fuse or shut it down if you used the dongle. He uses it on all Otis equipment. Gamma D, 211,311,335,411, gems, gen2 and gcs. Not sure about the hydro fit but if it works with all that I'm sure it would for them as well. He bought it so if he left, it was his.
