Most of the accidents posted on Internet maybe prevented by installing a rope gripper, it posible to install on old elevator? I made a module. The code allows that on older elevator?

You could land your counterweight, hang the car and lift the machine. Depending on how much you need to raise the machine, you may need to install new longer ropes.

In California you have to have an architect draw it up and submit drawings for approval for rope gripper installations.
