We have a client with an analog Otis 21-UCL Controller that has an Otis 6450 selector that is integrated to the same Controller. The Selector is not located in a separate Tower, it is integrated to the same Controller and the Selector Tape is attached to the DC Motor.
We need to know if there is a digital selector that could replace the existing analog one, which is giving a lot of operational problems.
We know that the IP 8300 selector tape manufactured by different Companies is used to substitute the analog selectors for old Westinghouse and Otis Elevators but this type of selector previously described.
Could anybody give us some leads or thoughts on how to achieve this task? Client does not have the money available now for a full Modernization Project.
We are considering performing this minor upgrade or reengineering to the equipment until the Modernization is done in the future.
Please advise and/or give us your impressions or experience performing or recommending this type of upgrade.
