maybe one of the otis guys has an answer to this. i have noticed that on a few of the 211 that i have worked on.
here is what i have done and the outcome.
I was showing a mechanic how to check the input of an rsl board. in this case it was just the car call input. we went to test rsl io and entered the address, 34 1, the screen shows in and out for bit 1 we push the 1st floor car call so i can show him that the in should change to On, however it does not, but the car will accept the call and run. strange thing i noticed, is that after you place a call, either hall or car, the car will answer it, but the light stays on. doors will close, as if nothing is wrong. but the light will remain lit. all i have to do is back out of the rsl io test screen, and the lights go out. so we tried to see if we could see an output bit for the car up lantern, went to the correct address to see the bit go on, but not only does it not go on, but the car lantern will not light, if we back out of the test screen, the lanter will work again. any ideas, fyi the cars run fine, and don't have any problems , except when i want to teach the guys something and it is not working right, then i have to mumble to myself and look at the mechanic and shrug my shoulders. ha ha

When using the RSL test menu, its very common to see this when working on all modular based equipment that uses RSL's. It will throw you off when you see it, the new equipment has a new menu- M1319, you cant fire the RSL's but you can view all 4 Inputs and Outputs for a given address, the pesky Output lock up does not happen.

I always thought that the output was left on while in test so you could fire a hall lantern or such and then have time to go see if it actually worked or if you have a bulb out.

I've never seen black pant on an Otis mechanic in the field. Must have been casual Friday. smile

Oh, they let them wear black pants in San Diego. Maybe this branch is just lax on uniform enforcement.

Those are the Amtech misfits that merged over to Otis.
