If a new Seismic switch , capable of sensing all 3 axis and can be installed as a complete unit in the shaft, do you still need a sensor ( old wire through the loop) for detection of counterweight movement ? Question being, the counterweight could only be moved this much by strong ground motion shaking that would be detected by the sensor? Furthermore, the amount of"g" force being detected can be adjusted in the Horizontal axis by the elevator company while the code requirement on the Z axix would remain the same.
