Is it true that the BIG green has Gen2's with global software that even their own field techs can't make adjustments on? I'm told that they have to call and engineer with a special laptop.

its a whole new controller "global controller" they are going to start using it on the hydro's too. All of our older service tools don't work anymore you need to have the new tool which works through the phone via blutooth. So basicly all we can change are basic parameters like hall call dwell time and such. If you need to make any other changes you have to call otis back east to unlock controller for changes.

most companies are switching back to controlled access to limit liability and company swapping. i don't care about readjusting a job after construction. companies should leave the troubleshooting open ended for the customer. although the magic black box OMT designed by our space division has kept a lot of 401's on service.

Is there any way to distingush the Global from the regular by looking at the controllers.

GCS is a short little controller that doesn't look like anything else out there. Its easy to spot.
