Hey you guys, do you have a solution to remove the maintenance shutdown feature on a Assention 2000

I heard there is a software chip to get rid of that.. Check with World Electronics see if they have a source.

I believe Vertical Express offers it too

I hate that feature too. But- does anyone know, if you do install these "new chips", would you have had to record all of the personality information first before swapping? It's a pain to toggle through the display and set each one...assuming you have a tool and documentation to guide you through it.


The solution? MOD is what I tell my Ascension customers. They don't like it, but what they don't like even more is entrapments due to timeouts and shutdowns due to timeouts. Yes, I understand their financial limitations, but with these controls being obsolete, it's gonna be sooner or later.
Actually the better yet not so efficient way, at least today, is to ACTUALLY VISIT THESE JOBS MONTHLY to reset the counters BEFORE someone gets bit. Oh wait...that was the original intent, to get you there monthly.

That's what I used to do, just show up every month and try to give the customer what they are paying for. If you get all the buttons replaced they aren't all that bad.

Speaking of buttons and the Ascension, there's an outfit called MAI, out of San Jose I think, but this fellow Hong has a very nice replacement button for the soft touch OEM. $75 bucks a pop, but if you saw the quality of this button and how much it looks like the original equipment, you'd be pleasantly surprised. It's completely mechanical similar to an older Adams, but a superior design in materials.
I don't believe he has the early US soft ouch P.I. lamps though. Anyway...just I'd pass that along.

No saving or recording needed. Just remove the old chip and replace with the updated software. I burn my own. I have replaced all our customers chips with the "No need to clear display C" software. They all have worked for years. I've never sold the updated chips to another company but would be interested in knowing if World is selling them, and how much they are charging.

I'm sure there are plenty of people interested in your fix. I'm curious though how you came about this "no need to clear display C" software. Not asking, just curious. From the customers perspective, sans any liabilities on your part, you saved them quite a bundle of money. How much, if you don't mind posting, does your upgrade software run? And, what would the implications be, if any, to you selling to World, or any after market within the industry?
Maybe there just aren't enough of them out there to make it worth your while, I don't know. Being an old U.S. guy, this gets my attention (at least for 15 minutes).
Can anybody verify Vertical Express or World does indeed sell this upgrade?

Someone gave me the software. Have no clue where he got it. There are no implications, the only thing it changes is the elevator will not shut down if Display C if not cleared within the needed time. Thats all. Do you know why it shuts down? I think it will shut down after so many relevels although I'm not positive. So its needed more often on the less used elevators. Since after sitting for hours many hydros will leak down enough to relevel.

I do not believe it is a literal relevel that causes the shut down. To be exact, I don't know. I believe it to be an internal clock of sorts. Yes it does increment a count (high byte/ low byte) at each run, and the fault is called a relevel fault (F), but I have 4 at one location and the count is always the same on each unit, so how could the count be the same if it were runs?
The counters are identical at each visit, yet I know for sure one of the four hardly gets used. Some may shut down, while the others continue to run, but none have an actual leak down problem.
And, if a log is kept, you'll see the count at shutdown varies anywhere from the upper three hundreds to the mid six hundreds. I'd be curious to let them all shut down and see the count.
Brings new meaning to the phrase "Down for the count" doesn't it?

Thanks for the info. I've tried to see a pattern of any of the counts on Display C and D. I haven't found anything definite to know for sure what shuts it down. All I know for sure is you do have to clear occasionally or you will shut down. Unless you have the updated software.

The Ascention 2000 will shut down if the number of relevels in the most recent 30 days exceeds the number of relevels in the previous thirty days. I adjusted some of the first ones to come from the factory, and my only thought was, "WTF are they thinking? This is NOT going to turn out well." Glad to hear there is a software solution.

If three, or two could do it in 30 days... that's just plain sick. Good thing mine aren't leakers.

If I increment relevel after relevel fault manually, theoretically I could hit a number high enough I'd never surpass it again in 30 days, thus avoiding a shut down? Is that how I read that? Just curious.

So what happens after you clear display C? Does it restart the count? Making it impossible to shutdown within 30 days after the clear? And if it shuts down with more, how many more? 1, or a more substantial number?

Sorry, I don't know the specifically how the program increments the relevel counter and compares that to the day counter.

Yes, Blaze, after you do a Code-C, that counter is set to zero. So the easiest way to avoid problems is to do just service the unit monthly and reset the counter.
