I have an older montgomery miprom geared unit with ssc6010 drive. It does not have the standard mf swithches for stepping, it has a pulse tach mounted on the drive sheave, the output goes to a single input on a input board. The car has a large circuit board about the size of a miprom 21 cpu board mounted under the input board and power supply. also this car has absolute encoding inputs to a separate input board from the cartop. I can not find anyone who has even seen this type of stepping setup, much less have any info to share. the stepper performs very well except for one little glitch that has affected all 6 cars periodically. The glitch is that it stops stepping and will run from top to bottom without opening doors until you reset the processor, then it will run fine, any info would be helpful thanks

I know where there are 2 of these units, just as you describe... about once a week you have to reset them or they will run exactly as you say...
Talked to the engineering department many times and haven't been able to get the problem resolved...
We have only 1 Kone guy in the area and he keeps to himself and is not the type to help out...

thanks for the reply, I kind of figured this is one of those systems that has an inherit bug in its operation, and we will just have to live with it.

Had three of these 6010 units on my route once. It has an encoder mounted on the drive sheave which is used for stepping. It had the helco drive machine (the one with the stupid matrix brake).

Anyways, figured out that one of the bars on the inside of the encoder was a little bit worn out and it would glitch. Replaced the encoder and boom, no more problem.

I have replaced the tach on a few of the cars that seemed to act up more often. The problem does go away for a longer period of time after the replacement, but eventually it will show again.
