Hi all,
New to this forum. We have a small Otis inside a facility, and virtually no information. It recently came to a sudden halt, and is currently stuck.

Anyway, I have pics of the name plate. I could use some help in identifying what we have. (click for full-size)










I can get more pics if needed. The facility was built in the 70s, if that helps.

I could also use help in getting it un-stuck. I have the operational wiring diagram and (most of) the component list. Stuff like no continuity across the e-stop switches, but both switches test fine.

Please call an elevator professional , Otis is your best bet but any of them will take a look . You do not want to play around with an elevator yourself . I understand you may have some knowledge of circuitry etc.. But every single person on here will give you the same advice . Please leave it to the guys who do this for a living . If you let people know where you are in sure someone on here will know a good company you can use .

Fair enough, makes sense. And no, I won't be working on it myself.

However, I would still like some help in identifying the machine. It is at a remote location, so whoever would look at it would be limited to how long we are on-site. I'd still like as much information about it as possible, so we don't spend too much time on it. I know professionals "take as long as they take", but as a pro myself (in a different field), I like to have as much info going into the job as possible.

Then from one professional to another, you are aware how reckless and irresponsible it would be to give out ifomation to a random stranger who has shown no experience or knowledge of the elevator industry.

Why did you remove the data plates from the controller?

My suggestion is to contact an elevator service company, send them pictures of the controller with the data plates mounted back on.

It's a remote site, thus not tended to on a regular basis. One of the things we contend with is corrosion. We did not take the plate off; the rusty screws and gravity did that.

I'll go back to not knowing anything.

Ask Otis to look at it , give the office you deal with the serial and sales number off the data plate . They will know what it is they are going to look at and can go prepared no matter the location
