Just finishing up the first car of a four car mod. Going from Miprom 21 to MCE iControl (iBox). Motion says they need board level prints of the Miprom 21's to design us a hall call cross cancellation system. (So that the turned over iBox car doesn't chase the same hall call assigned to the remaining Miprom cars and vice-versa.) The prints on the job don't even show the hall call circuit let alone the CPU dispatching algorithm, my bosses told me they called Moline but got no help.

Two questions:

1. Has anyone gone through this before?

2. Any ideas for a home made (field designed) solution?

The Montgomery drawing number is WD-17635, job numbers 82544 through 82547 for the four cars, done in 1995, digital DC gearless, 28 stops.

The new iControl has an iCentral group controller with serial link hall calls.

I realize this is a tall order from an Internet forum, but thought it couldn't hurt to ask.
Thanks

I don't believe there will be a way to cancel a hall call once it is registered in the Mipom system. You could do cross registration. It is set up with a time value that if the new car cannot reach the call in a certain amount of time it gives up the call to the Miprom system. Do you have two risers of hall call buttons? You could have one system on each side and just deal with people pushing both buttons.

Yes there are two risers of hall stations. I discussed this with my supervisors, and they didn't think the customer (Marriott hotel) would go for it. May have to though, we'll see...

I would go with the 2 riser system also. if you take the 2nd car out of the same riser as the 1st mod, you still have 2 coherent cars and one chase car.through the rest of the mod. That said depending on the year the Miprom was installed they had a parameter on the later installs called, Hall Call Latch. The hall call output stayed high as long as the input was high, then I think but am not positive that the input stayed high through a relay contact that was used as an interface on a mod.Something to look into.

it is a little late to be thinking about this circuit, by the time motion gets it designed, and you get it installed, you will be on to the 3rd car, leaving only 1 miprom left. we have done many multi car mods, and have never installed a cross cancelation circuit, although it can be done, and it is nicer for the customer, this is something that should be decided before the mod started. I am surprised how well a single modded car can handle the abuse of non stop running for calls, we have done many mods, with multi car groups, and many floors, and it always surprises me how well it actually works, it does slow down the traffic quite bit, but thats part of the game, we have tried the 2 riser system, and it will help a bit with wear and tear on the new car, it will be a little slower for each individual floor, but may help with the lobby its a real pain, something to think about, if you do have one riser for the new car, if that car breaks down, public will be pushing the button on that riser and may not realize that they need to push the other riser to call a car, or they may push both buttons regardless of signs etc again infritz it is a real pain in the a , especially for the mod guys, who are getting grilled every day on how slow things are. g

Have the new car park at the main lobby with doors open(or the busiest floor) after each run. only install the fire landing hall button assembly with the fire key switch in it (to pass inspection)

mod 2nd car and install the rest of the fixtures for that riser.

Once the two new cars are on their own button riser they will blow the 4 car miprom group out of the water.

I know we have in the past used separate hall call systems for the new and old lifts. This may even include using each side landing button rises for each type, including using temporary timber stands for this. Ideally you would use this side for the new lifts, and then you can remove the stands. Nothing works perfectly but it is a way to cover this problem.

BTW, Hardly anyone at KONE in Moline knows much about MIPROM 21 anyway since Stu Burns Retired. May be better off calling CETEK in Moline. All the MIPROM people including software engineers went to CETEK. They may even have a PLC ready made you could purchase to do the job.

Montgomery used a unit called "Lonnie" to do the dispatching and Hall Calls.

Thanks for all the input, I will look into all of the options, and definitely have my bosses call CETEK as well.
