Hello, We are having problem learning floors on a 15 stop 500 Ft/min gearless job DC-SCR. We have the 166628G01 board. We went through the steps to ensure tachs are calibrated and inspection speed is 78 Ft/min. as per instructions. The shaft signals seem to be correct. We do a learn run and the display increments a floor ahead and we run until the car stops just past the top floor. The scale plate value is 254 (book says 250 +/- 5). Just at the end of the run we get a fault "overspeed". We reset power and the car levels into floor, all looks good. We then put in a call, say 5 floors away. The car does not even reach full speed, slows at next floor and shuts down with "overspeed". Obviously it is not overpeeding. We have changed out the pulse board, speed reference board, and tachs. Still problem is there! Any help would be appreciated!

There is a redundant circuit in the 616L(x) relays that will do this to you. It is to check for the existence of ETS switches in the hoistway. I believe that input is T6/11 going to the 722:1 I/O pin A/14E. Either fix those 616L(x) contacts or you can eliminate them by jumping since they are redundant check for switches. If your hoistway switches are open the car will make a flying stop when 616L(x) opens as it does on a TMS 900-9000 with the jumpers on. That A/14E input generates the overspeed to stop the car at the next floor if 616L(x)contacts do not work. If you want to keep them, Ohm them out and make sure they go to zero Ohms when pushed in manually.

The contacts on 616L relays were ok. Happened to notice a note on the prints about P3/A3 pot relating to 105% overspeed. Adjusted this pot and the overspeed message went away. Odd though as this was not in the procedure documentation. Maybe the pot got accidentally adjusted - we can not be sure. In any case, we are now running and certainly interested in knowing more about this.

Actually MP11 on the A3 is the overspeed pot. The pot you turned is for one of the hoistway switches. That pot sets the voltage that the 616(X) relay falls out when the car reaches that analog voltage.

Be sure you have not over ridden a safety device in the hoistway.

The only thing we have in our documentation for MP3 P3 on A3 board is for adjusting of supervision relays if no A12 board. We have an A12 board so ignored this section.

NOOOOOOO Those supervision relays are the 616L1-2 relays. That IS the ETS circuitry. If you raise the voltages up above top speed on P3/P7 on A3 (P1 A6 is top speed), there is no ETS protection. There are specific voltages to set them at. There are two 616L(x) relays.. P4 (A3) is the other one. Tell me what contract speed your car is in FPM and I will give the correct voltages for P3/P7 A3 and P4. Those pots control at what voltage the 616L(x) relays drop to allow the hoistway switch to stop the car.

Top speed should be 6.35v (MP1/A6) Overspeed Volts 6.99V (MP6/A3) Field weakening 5.71V (MP11/A3) ETS MP4/A3 (P4) Not used set at Top speed to prevent stop. ETS MP3/A3 MP7/A3 (P3 & P7) Set at 4.0v Speed Monitor MP8/A3 set at 1.75v (Speed car runs if gov switch Trips. Armature volts should be 10-20 volts less nameplate Empty car down. 97 is from the Drive, Excitation contactor stuck closed.

Or a pilot relay.. also make sure the brake switch is working properly. Could be a timer holding car at zero speed when stopping at the floor. Usually that's another fault but it's possible,

It happens after about 5 min of idle time. A relay drops and fault comes up. Not every time!

That sure sounds like car being held at zero speed to long. It will keep drive energized until it sees brake switch dropped. If it was the brake micro/switch you should get a different fault. Could be a contact on a relay the brake switch controls. Lot of relays on there with contacts that do fail. Make sure the wired contacts go to zero ohms when pushed in with power off. If they don't go to zero change the relay and be sure to ohm the new one. I highly doubt it is an I/O being intermittent. There is a high to low voltage board below the CPU with lots of opto-isolators on it. Be sure to eliminate that also. Opto's will be intermittent before complete failure.
