I work in Facilities for a non-profit in Minneapolis. We have very modest financials and we recently received some bad news. The elevator in an older converted building we own is down for the count. They have not dug entirely into it, but they suspect the Omega 1000 CPU is shot. Apparently the manufacturer was bought out more than once and they are now owned by Otis, who has stopped making parts. The manufacturer of the elevator appears to be AMTECH Reliable Elevator Co. I checked into them but it appears they specialize in cabs, rails, etc. What we are up against is upgrading several components to make them compatible, and in the process having to do a ton of expensive work to meet code. This elevator was installed in 1990, making it 27 years old. Apparently the CPU was rated for 25 years, so it is not out of line to fail now. Does anybody know of any options, such as having the CPU repaired, aftermarket parts, etc.?

You still may be able to get the power supply and if that’s your only problem, it might work out. If programming is needed, well, that’s another story.
DirectLogic or DL model DL305 I believe is the power supply the Omega uses. “Automationdirect” can be found searching DirectLOGIC 305 (or Automationdirect) and you’ll see what’s available.
There are a few other components that can be worriesome on the Omega that may or may not be yet available.
The “Level Sensor Board” is one of the boards that you can buy repaired, but I’m not sure “new”.
The optics Amtech used on the sensor stick may or may not be available. These are used for leveling and door zone signals as well as slowdown inputs I believe.
World Electronics has a fair supply of some of these obsolete parts, but not too many for the Omega. World also does board repair.
Yes, ECI West has done the ladder logic reprogramming on an DirectLogic Controller for me before. Mike is the one who did the job. Thanks LA Tech- you beat me to it.
