This could be a 6010 with the MST Selector. I think this derives it's position from an encoder driven by a friction wheel, and optical readers on the car top going through vanes which are used to update the MST as to car position. The input from the encoder is a 12 volt signal to a modified input board. If it doen't have the MST Selector, then they are using the boards for Binary counting. I would check these closely. If it is MST, it will read the binary inputs if the R input is high and the su and sd inputs are low. I would look for a r u n input which should be high whenever ua or da outputs are high.
