Guys, the service tool just turns on an output to energize a solenoid to reset Gov. You can do it with a jumper.

There’s no print. Just an owners manual that is garbage pretty much

very much agreed. the time of poking around and randomly looking for terminal points is over, especially with gen2 and other fully solid state controllers. too much can go wrong and theres too much risk. just call for your adjuster if you are not familiar with the equipment at hand.

I’m not poking around. I have been in the business for 30 years . The prints were taking off job. As well as testing procedures that include the gov trip reset.

Ok then post a wiring diagram number and maybe you can get a set of prints. Asking for terminals to use is absurd without knowing wiring diagram number. After 30 years you should know that.

ANSI code requires that testing procedures and wiring drawings are required to be accessible to the technician. Have the superintendent or sales contact the customer/owner.

A Gen 2 has a set reset button that is activated by the tool. You will find gov set and reset command on tool and when enabled you push the set reset button on controller

Bill Hempel, we all know that it can be done with a tool but you can energize the Gov Reset Solonoid WITHOUT a tool and reset the Gov.

Good Lord! You can make yourself up a box to do all the things that a tool will do and complete a test. Kone has them available in spares to employees. Trip and reset the gov WITHOUT A DAMN tool. If you can't figure that out please turn in your card if you have one.

What Bill said...follow procedure, do it the right way and always use the right tool intended for the job. Jumpers, homemade boxes and shortcuts should only be last resort

Your an Idiot! Change your name to DuhProm! You Just don't know how. Your one of those that needs a written procedure to wipe their ass. And I know some Otis guys that use the box instead of the tool. An Otis Field Engineer made it first.

Wow...”an idiot” elevator men now resorting to belittling each other on the forum when only trying to help and I do know how, I’m very familiar with the Gen2 setup. All it takes is having the office or customer getting the prints and right tool so things can be done correctly now and in the future. I can have the Blue tool delivered to my house in just a few days. Takes all the guess work out and more importantly keeps everyone safe. Maybe you should rewatch the video you posted.
