Schindler 330A Repack?

How the $%#@ do you repack this thing? Is there an easy way to repack this upside-down holeless cylinder?

When I was working for the big S, I was told you could do both sides start to finish in 4 hours... I believe D.L. Martin fabricated the jacks....they may have info. Use air to return oil from piston to tank...this will help keep oil mess in pit to a minimum.

An easier way is to tell your service sales people to stay away from this garbage !!!

Actually not that bad. Definetly take your time. About 6 hours per side would be the norm. Mine had accumulated rust in all of the snap ring grooves. DO NOT just buy the Texacone seals. They have a complete kit that includes wipers (which turned to out be one of the hardest parts), and the most critical pieces, the "O" rings that seal the pistons to the housings. Large snap ring pliers are a must (0.095). Blowing air into the top of the cylinder from a compressor was a huge help with mess reduction. Although for some reason the bleeder plug is a metric bolt thread, not pipe thread. So use a rubber tip from an air gun.

my question is why do companies do this crazy stuff? how much money do they save vs. holed hydro or a traction car? it seems like every big company puts this stuff out then figures out its a bad idea shortly after installation but we have to live with it forever. for whatever reason it seems like all these crazy hydro ideas come out of germany. are they trying to get back at us for something?

Amen brother!! Nothing but trouble, check my post about having to replace CRIPHNA boards due to a 1 cent resistor burning up. Have had 3 Schindler units at 3 different buildings within 2 weeks because R176 burns up and then?? Guess what no door power! Had people stuck today, so it's another $800 to replace another board....

Does anyone have instructions on re-packing these jacks? They are very difficult to work on. It would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
