So I haven’t seen this before however when I plug in my MOVFR parameter tool into the RJ-11 connector it boots up and I get the following fault: “Inverter to PU Comm. Timeout!!”. I couldn’t have any documentation or resources listing this fault.
Sounds like your parameter unit isn’t communicating with the inverter. Just need to determine which one is the issue (or the cable.) Plug your PU into another MOVFR or plug another PU into that MOVFR. Replace the problem.
So that’s the thing, we tried another parameter unit and it didn’t work, it’s a duplex and both cars are the same. Just seemed unlikely that both units would give the same error. They were installed by TKE years ago and the inverter cover was removed on both.
You know there are 2 different versions right? Original MOVFRs have an RJ-45 jack and use a PU usually made by Mitsubishi. Then the MOVFRIIs have an RJ-11 jack and use a smaller tool made by GAL. Kind of sounds like you’re plugging a new PU into an MOVFR-1.
Are you sure it’s not an ECI operator? Someone ran into one that looks identical to an MOVFR 2 but the tool would not talk to it. He said that it needed a tool from ECI
Ran into this today, original callback due to loose wire for light curtain in rear operator. I think he's right it's an MOVFR2. The car I was on was an older movfr on front and rear. The rear door would not talk to two seperate known good DRV-0009N gal parameter units. But the tool did work and change parameters on the front operator. These operators also started acting whacky, constantly unable to close the doors flashing the stall force LED. The rear doing that is what prompted me to go get my parameter unit. The tool never could connect to the rear. So tried the front. AFTER putting the tool on the front it started the same stall force reopening as the rear. Problem was they were drawing under an amp amd stall setting is 1.6 amps so definitely no reason for the stall force to be reopening them. Stopped, and walked outside for a few minutes. Came back in and asked Jesus to help me on this one and I'd be darned the things came back on and worked right.
I think its the older drives in the older MOVFR2s that are faulty here. Theyre still working but definitely are not right. In my case I told my customer it's running but if it acts up like that again we're going to quote replacing the drives and main boards in both operators.
They should be able to suggest likely causes and solutions. If I were to guess, the Parameter Units (PUs) you tried are not able to communicate with the Inverter (aka Drive) because there’s something damaged in the connector on the PCB or in the circuitry that transmits data between the PU and the Inverter CPU. That could be anything from mechanical damage to the connector pins to damage to an integrated circuit caused by a zap of static electricity.
