Have a tac20 giving me a fit with a 1085 loop error fault. Causing hall buttons/fire service to not function. Car link works fine

Things that have been done:

Checked voltage at 24.7 at all floors and power supply

Bypassed the loop with a short cat5 cable plugging LN board back into itself shows slow blink which means it's communicating?
Removed cat5 cables from all hall boards and lanterns and tested with cat5 tester, all passed.
Installed pass through connectors to by pass L24 boards and still have slow blink.
Try to reinstall one new L24 board at a time and immediately get a fast blink on the LN board..hitting my head against the wall lol.

If you open LON Explorer and select the LN card, are there the same number of ports as you have L24 cards in the SPI loop? Because the test for the SPI loop is looking at a lot more than you’d think. It needs to see the correct number of ports and will even fault if an IO is active that isn’t assigned. It sounds like it’s looking for 1 less port than you actually have. It would do this if your LN card jumpers were set like the car LN card where it uses the on board port. JP2 should be on pins 2-3 for the hall. The only way you can use a CAT5 coupler to jump out L24 cards on the hall is to move JP2 from 2-3 to 1-2 so it is looking for 1 less port in the loop.

Yea im trying to get my ims to communicate with tac20 so i can check the ports, I've tried on a couple different units to verify but I keep getting the unable to open the serial port, COM2 message I've tried changing the com port in the communications tab under configure in ims but no luck yet. I've order a new 25 to 9 DB connector and tripplite aswell. This is way I've taken the long way of troubleshooting the SPI error 🤣

I think that jumper must be in the wrong position. It’s the only reason I can think of that it would be happy with 1 less port than is actually there. Not like your LON config changed or someone added an extra L24 card into the loop. I’ve seen those header jumpers just need to be re-seated too.
For the serial adapter, first look in device manager to see that your adapter is there and what port it’s been assigned. Then open IMS and set the com port to that. If you’re using the Triplite Keyspan adapter that we use you can open the Keyspan Serial Assistan to check that it’s connected and see what port it’s set to. I do recommend using the Keyspan adapter though, it’s the only one I’ve seen reliably work on every controller. I’ve had a couple with Prolific chipsets that worked fine on TAC20 and TAC32 but wouldn’t work on a TAC50.

If whoever built the LON tree originally didn’t do an upload to the controller you won’t be able to see anything in LON Explorer. The tree will have to be rebuilt with Advanced LON Manager then uploaded to use Explorer. I don’t think you’ll need to to figure out your SPI loop error though. Did you check the jumpers on the LN card?

Yea I verified the jumpers where Jp1 2-3 and JP2 2-3 JP3 is off. I can fire the hall lanterns via I/O and they light up/gong. Fire the hall button via I/O buttons won't light up but car will answer the call
