I will be installing a new CPUA board 6300xE1 tomorrow on an Tac50-04 and was curious if I need to upload new software to the board. If so what is the process for that? The current job file USB stick is missing….

Make sure you’re pressing and holding RST. While holding RST, press and hold UDL. Let go of RST and continue to hold UDL until STAT LED displays Z-modem blink. If it doesn’t go into Z-modem may be bad CPUA board. Is WD LED lit? Do you have 1.5, 3.3 & 5VDC? Is the 3V coin cell battery good? It’s possible the board may be completely unprogrammed with no software whatsoever. Also the software files you’re trying to install need to be in a folder labeled update inside a folder labeled tke - all lower case.

Yes to all of that…. This is a brand new CPUA 6300xE1 from vertical Exspress. There is no software in it. Battery is good, voltage everywhere is good. When I use the RST & UDL procedure it never blinks like it’s supposed to, it blinks very fast and the UIT never says ZModem. The software is in a usb stick on my computer and I’m trying to get the controller on Z modem so that I can upload via hyper terminal….

You can’t use Hyperterminal on the 32 bit. What you’re seeing is it going into Z-modem and seeing no USB stick then leaving Z modem and flashing fast to indicate there’s no job file in the CPUA. You have to have a USB stick 8gb or less with a tke folder in the root. In the tke folder make a folder called update and put the generic file and the job file in there ( job file should be .cfg) then with the USB stick plugged directly into the CPUA put it into Z modem. You’ll see the flash rate you’re looking for while it loads. If successful you’ll get a solid WD. For some reason new boards don’t like to take both files the first time so if it comes up flashing fast again, put it in Z-modem one more time. If the job file went through it won’t be in the update folder anymore.

Lord have mercy… it took 7,8,9 times I lost count before it finally took the files. It’s alive now but floor tables are missing. Attempting to do a hoistway can, D26=1, car is stopped and on auto but still rejects the scan. Safe 3.4, & 5 are not up and the only fault I’m getting is 1056: “Floor tables of encoder counts not set up when attempting an auto run. Not on inspection and the level reference in Non Volatile memory for any floor is valid…”

If this is an un-adjusted job file, every will have to be setup from scratch including fire service parameters. SAF3 is the drive so won’t even run on inspection until the drive is happy.
