I have a Galaxy traction car with a communication problems from the controller 1036bn can Network to the car diagnostic say no communication TX or RX. Is there any way to restore this function or is there any way to confirm that this board 1036bn is faulty other than the diagnostics.thanks in adv

If you have a donor board laying around you can swap the can bus com chip on most of these boards. They are usually identical 6 or 8 leg and often located adjacent to the can bus plugs. We had a bank of 5 of these give us intermittent com issues all over the place until we figured out the power supply voltages were low. We cranked them all up to 5.1vdc and a lot of the com issues went away. Would be worth checking out

So think I checked voltages on power supply they seem ok .Was your voltages dropping down from 5.1 intermittently or was that just set to low ?all other devices are communicating Drive, and group no issue.we did pull board gonna send out for repair I'll post reply about outcome.t

I don't know much about the galaxy system but you should be able to check resistance from CAN H to CAN L with the power off and see if you get 120 ohms or 60 ohms. If you get something other then that usually there's a problem. Also make sure the ground you're controller is using to reference CAN voltages is good and a solid connection from controller to the car. Usually the network uses a twisted shielded pair and a lot of people don't hook the shield to ground.

They were all ranging in the constant low 4s if I remember correctly. We figured as the psu ages it may need adjusting. There was a lower voltage threshold it would reach where the boards in the stack would start to have com issues, before shutting down completely probably due to a protection feature. Hopefully your repaired board fixes it. Com issues can be a nightmare on the galaxy IIIs, maybe they fixed some of the issues on the IV, I've never seen one.

So update on Galaxy job we replaced the 1036bn board and car took off right back in service ran for about half hours had doors out no faults . Then back in service for use so far no issue think we're good .couple of things there were multiple issues here starting with drive not being wired correctly ,the mc contactor back contacts not wired correctly,and the obvious 1036bn faulty what was original problem not sure as I was 3rd mechanic in on job probably never know. Thanks for all the input definitely some things learned here.
