Hi,

Has anyone had much dealings with MCE?

Here in UK there aren’t that many and there isn’t a great deal of knowledge on these units,

I have one with up open limit and cannot drive up on inspection from lift car or controller (it did run down ok)

The shaft reader is a Elgo with tape and has no physical mechanical limits

Any assistance required would be greatly appreciated:)

Directional Limit Distance, 68 This is the distance in inches at which the Directional Limit “switches” are placed beyond the terminal floor level positions. The value is entered in inches and is computed from the position of terminal floor levels. For example, a value of 2.0 would place the switches 2” past the level at floor position for each terminal. If the car fails to stop level at the terminal, this “switch” will prevent the car from traveling further past the terminal landing. These “switches” must be positioned between the terminal floor level and the mechanical Final Limit Switches. If a car reaches the Final Limit Switch, the hoistway safety string will open and it will be necessary to jumper out the safeties to move the car off the limit.

Found in manuel P304. Parameter 68 is access with flag F7 up and all other flag down while on inspection

Parameter 68 is set @ 2.0

The lift is currently on the ground level (lowest level) the CPU showing level 7 (this is top floor) hence why have the my limit open

The CPU does know how many floors it has and knows a learned valve of floor distances

I’m not sure why CPU hasn’t changed its position when driving from top to bottom on inspection?


I’ve tried to reset the Elgo device by unplugging and plugging back in - this has worked on Elgo with another uk manufacturer before)

I did try to relearn shaft also but cannot do as lift will not run up

Running out of ideas 🫨

Sounds like it lost its parameters. Check some F1 parameters to confirm, especially spare inputs and output. You’ll have to default the CPU and re-enter all the F1 parameters the. You can load the F7 parameters from the CTL and be back up. Don’t try to just change all the parameters without defaulting. You put up all the odd dip switches then press all 4 buttons, N, S, +, -. Then enter everything from the paperwork that came with the job.

I’m going to give this a try when back on site, did kind a thought this maybe the case, it does know the amount of floors it’s got so there is some information in the CPU

If you place the controller on inspection fault bypass (F3 menu) you should be able to move if the safety circuit is made up and doors are locked. Unless you have the door bypasses on. F7 parameters are stored on the MPI board and the F1 settings are stored on the CPU board. If you go into the F3 menu and the controller system menu then look at the Elgo A and B channels. They should both increment as you move up and down the hoistway. If they don’t you either have a canbus wiring issue or bad tape reader. Also make sure you have power to the Elgo from the LSI board. Check those and let us know what you find.
