I have a unique job I have been sourced with. Replacing rails on a dumbwaiter. It sounds simple enough, right? This job is 180 miles out in the Gulf of Mexico, and I do not know if it will be possible to pull 16' rails out of the shaft.
I have a question regarding rails lengths. Do 16' rails provide anything other than less rails vs a 8' rail? Looking at the drawings I can start with a 3.5' rail at the bottom and with the bracket spacing be OK with the 8' rails. Should this be signed off by an engineer?
