We have a Composite that the rectifiers from SEES keep failing. It gets ac leakage and the car runs slow speed from terminal to terminal. I am going to get the ones from Vertical Express now. Two questons: 1. any idea what would cause this other than defective boards? 2. Has any one put on a 48 volt power supply instead of the rectifiers?

I'd check for current levels, maybe your overheating them and they're failing. What kind of board, are you soldering out the old ones/in the new ones? If your soldering are you using flux? transformer voltage levels ok? Another thought, meg the transformers to verify insulations good. I seen a transformer on a composite start arcing in-between insulation when first turned on. Also yeah if the boards the same and you've just swapped diodes, I'd be very suspicious of the board too

This is a 87 circa, so the boards have male terminals and are bolt on. The voltage is correct. Will meg out the tformer. Have the boards coming from v express. Will let you know.

Almost afraid to close this out....However, it does appear we had several bad or poorly built boards from SEES. replaced with the above from VE and no other issues......
