I’m not really sure why we are in this situation but for some reason, one of our salesman sold a building an MOVFR operator for their TAC 20 elevator that has a serial board HD door operator.
Does anyone know if there is a way to get discrete signals from the TAC 20 controller to run a GAL MOVFR door operator?

Not without an interface , also depends if it’s LON or Non Lon cpu. Early tac20 we’re 485 communications

You best bet is to go LD-16. Those old operators based on the old Miami Elevator platform (HD series (All models)/early LD series, such as LD-03) are no longer in production, with limited mechanical spares.

In my opinion, I think there should have been more checks and balances between the landlord and the sells staff.

As far as using GAL equipment on an old TAC serial, I would only consider it if I were changing my controller to something that supports GAL CAN (EC, Galaxy, Nexus) or discrete (i.e. MCE, TAC/ICON 32)

You just have to change the door type to discrete and add the discrete IOs to a spare port. DO, DC, DOL, DCL, NUD, SE and when a TAC20 came from the factory with an MOVFR it also had a DO1 output that picked a relay that the DO signal ran through for redundancy. You just need that many spare travel cable wires and spare inputs in port 7 & 8.
