Hello!
I have a new KDL fit in the elevator and gives the error 106 sub-code 2111. When it reaches floor level, stops and overrun few inches giving this fault. Brakes were check and voltage is fine and both are opening ok. it does the shaft learn OK, relevels showing 118 and stays floor level on last floor.
Move it on recall fine up and down but when you switches into normal mode and reaches the floor level goes again with fault 106-2111.
CPU with NVRAM already changed.
¿Any idea of what causes this error or maybe any parameter to fix it?

I uploaded a couple of Kone manuals to my AI troubleshooting app this is what it said.

I couldn’t find a direct entry for KDL error 106 with subcode 2111 in the Kone LCE/KDL manuals provided, but based on the way KDL controllers report faults, here’s what this one is pointing to:
• Main fault 106 → relates to final limit or leveling supervision (the controller sees the car passing floor level incorrectly).
• Subcode 2111 → specifies that the car has overrun the floor level during stopping. The controller detects that after reaching floor zone, the car continues to move a few extra inches, which matches the behavior you described (shaft learn works, recall runs OK, but in normal runs the car overshoots slightly and faults out).

From Kone’s fault structure, common causes for this kind of behavior include:
1. Encoder / positioning feedback mismatch – encoder pulses not correctly aligned with floor zone magnets.
2. Brake delay or slip – although you mentioned brakes are opening and voltage is fine, if the brake is slow to set or has mechanical drag, it can let the car roll a bit after stop.
3. Parameter mismatch – stopping distance, slowdown, or brake timing parameters may not be tuned for this installation. Sometimes the shaft learn looks good, but normal operation exposes a small offset.
4. Controller logic / NVRAM mismatch – you already replaced CPU + NVRAM, but if the parameters for brake/stop timing weren’t reloaded correctly, the system may be using defaults that don’t fit.

Things to check next:
• Re-run the brake test in the controller menus (KDL has a brake delay/brake check function). Compare measured brake reaction time against the parameter value.
• Verify the encoder mounting and coupling. A small slip can cause overrun faults.
• Check parameter sets for stopping/leveling (look for ones related to brake open delay, brake close delay, and stop compensation). Sometimes setting the brake open delay too long or brake close too short causes fault 106-2111.
• If it always shows relevel 118 and then faults, check that final limits and leveling sensors are wired correctly and not swapped.

👉 In short: this fault usually means the car isn’t stopping exactly where the controller expects, either due to brake response, encoder scaling, or stop parameter settings.

Would you like me to dig into the exact KDL parameter numbers (like the ones for brake delay and stop tolerance) in the Kone manual, so you can try adjusting them on-site?

Hello Webpros!

Thanks for the quick response.

The error was one of the common causes mentioned: 2. Brake delay or slip.

We adjusted the brakes machanically. One of them hada close delay due to poor fit.

Lift running ok now.

Thank a lot
