If it's older Miami Elevator (pre Thyssen/TK) equipment like DMC, you most likely have an HD85 or HD98 operator, which only has a serial interface to the controller, there's still hope. You could do one of four things, however, I don't think they're the best because mechanical spare parts (bearings, clutches, arms, etc) from TK/VE are now limited since all of their harmonic operators from the Miami Elevator/early Thyssen era have been rendered obsolete. While the best option would be to update the door equipment to the Wittur SGV, AMD, or LD-16 equipment, which is compatible with MCE. The other four options are listed below.
1. Use MCE SmarTraq upgrade kit. You will only need to replace the motor and controller. The good thing about this product is that there are no physical limits/cams. All is virtual.
2. Order the new MOVFR3 (just the motor and controller. NOT full operator) from GAL/Vantage. Just like with SmarTraq, there are no physical limit switches to be wired. It uses the same MONXT technology. Although newer to the industry, they seem to be more reliable than SmarTraq though and it may also be easier to source parts b/c GAL is more popular than SmarTraq; however, longer lead time may be necessary due to the product's young age.
3. Order the linear version (not harmonic) of the GAL MOVFE (just the sensors, motor and controller, NOT the whole operator). If you feel more comfortable with physical limit switches, then this is your choice. The downside is that you may need to make your own sensor mounting hardware, which could lead to longer install time.
4. Buy GAL MONXT-OMNI. Remove and dispose old operator (not header, hanger, clutch and rollers). Mount OMNI operator to car top and door, and off you go! Wittur has similar kit.
