The HPLIM from the mid-to-late 1990s had (IIRC) an Intel 386EX processor in it. That was a lot of computing horsepower in a door operator - actually a lot more than the OCSS and MCSS of the E411 car controller that it was often used with.
The HPLIM had a large copper plate as part of its linear induction motor design, with stickers that warned you that the surface could get hot. There was a LOT of current flowing to move those doors so rapidly when they opened! It was given the nickname of “the digital toaster” by at least a few mechanics that I knew.
When compared to modern linear door operators, the HPLIM is massive.
