I've never seen this on any installs, but the nicer thing about the newer KONE MRLs (the NMX ones) is that both they and the Imperial 540 series (KONE Ecodisc lookalike) both use the same type of AMO encoder. It may be possible to mod an MNX with generic logic without the sorry no-account Magnetek HPV-900-AF, which is no longer in production. This is definitely not the case for the original Ecodisc, the MX series.

I'm not sure if the Imperial 540 is made in China or not.

Those HM controllers such because they're PLC, too much like relay logic.
