We have a group of Otis goulian cars. With the MRS-11 selector overlay. It is my understanding that EC is no longer with us. This is a new job for us and when we walked in the door we found that the selector no longer saw 2 floors. After we redid the floor table 2 other floors at the bottom of the hoistway we found that when the car leveled into the floor we would lose PIB--APIB--LGB--FGB the car would get lost and run high speed into the pit! Does anyone know if there are old employees from EC that we can talk to for help?? Or anyone with more than the set up proceadures that come from EC?? Thanks Dan

goulian as in goulian logic (not sure of spelling)and EC as in Elevator Controll

I can look tomorrow and see for sure, I think it's also called Virginia Controls? Or they merged? I've spoke to them within the last year. I talked to a Mike (I believe there are 2 Mikes there), I'll find out.

we just installed one last year, Elevator Components Company, Richmond Virginia, 804-421-4091. this is the number that is on the print of unit we installed. unless they just recently shutdown, that should get you in touch with someone. they are really nice and have always been more then helpful. Hopefully they have not thrown in the towel, it is a really nice unit, and can make the car run really nice if adjusted properly, plus the added benefit of no more 6850 selector adjusting, of course i like the 6850 selector, it is a thing of beauty, until it is not:)
If you have the original prints for the overlay, it would have all of the parameters and interface circuits, i would check every parameter, at least they should be close to how it was originally programmed. Are you sure the floor counts are correct? you could run the car on inspect to each level, and check the count to make sure they are increasing the appropriate amount up the hatch. the main board is pretty tough, i have not seen one go bad yet, and we had quite a few of them. the little yellow relays, do however occasionally go bad. good luck.

When you call they say they are closed...So unless another company takes it over we are all SOL. I heard Electrodyne was looking at taking it over but decided to build there on unit from the ground up. Thanks for answering we have ourselfs installed several of these units so we are not stranges with the units. But when you need Tec support you need Tec support......

You might be referring to The Otis B-Base system..that uses their own Goulion symbols for troubleshooting the signals from the individual cars in the motion controller..

Yeah,the old Otis A-B based system.
It's boolean,but Otis called it goolean.
I installed a few of those on some really old otis .

Does it have the floating tape in the hoistway with a reader on top of the car?
If so,it maybe lint or some other foreign object on the tape or it could be a bad opto coupler chip for that floor.

At least I think thats what the selector you have now is.
